When a match finishes, we run it through the scoring model. It looks at how the likely result shifted across the 90 minutes, when those shifts happened, how long the outcome stayed in doubt, and how the finish compared to what the bookmakers expected beforehand.
Goals, cards, penalties and saves feed in as well, alongside rivalry and whatever was riding on the result.
Late drama counts for more than early drama. A big occasion raises the score of a good match, though it can't rescue a flat one, and a single wild moment in an otherwise quiet game only goes so far. All of it comes out as one number between 0 and 100.
What the numbers mean
Think of the score as a viewing queue, not a verdict on the teams.
- 90–100
- A classic. Absolute cinema. One for the archive.
- 75–89
- This one delivers. Watch it before someone spoils it.
- 60–74
- A proper watch. Earns its place in the queue.
- 40–59
- Decent value, particularly if you follow one of these sides.
- 0–39
- For the faithful only. Otherwise, save yourself 90 minutes.
